7 Things All (Real) Writers Love

1. Cleaning

Sweeping, washing dishes, reorganizing the closet for the third time this week — you name it, we love it. We adore cleaning because it takes our minds off things (like deadlines just hours away) and melts away stress (that comes from said deadlines).

We love cleaning so much that we put writing, editing, proofreading, and even publishing on hold. If that’s not true love, I don’t know what is.

2. Napping

Right next to cleaning, napping is one of our favorite pastimes. When we’re awake, it’s easy to dislike writing once you’ve been at it for a couple of hours, but once you sleep, you not only get to dream you have your book in your hands, but they’re turning it into a movie!

Napping and dreaming is the only way we get what we want without having to wait for years and years and years and years… and years for it.

3. Reading

We like to say we read to learn, but — and don’t tell anyone this — we actually read to escape writing. That fucker follows us everywhere, and we can never avoid it.

People ask us to write in the waiting room, in the laundry room, even while we’re taking a shit. So…
